I am the proud father of a 16-year-old boy who needs to buy his first decent suit. He’s tall, and broad and our attempts to find a passable RTW suit have so far been disastrous (and shame on the sales assistants in Ede & Ravenscroft, Hackett and Tyrwitt for pretending that their suits fit him). But where does that leave us? If forced where would Loungers go for a RTW suit in London? Or perhaps a MTM suit…
Any suggestions welcome!
Suits for young men
Good question. I don't have an answer from personal experience but I am wondering about Cordings and Harvie and Hudson.
Thank you for your suggestions. We did look in those shops but there was little on offer, and nothing that was up to scratch. To my financial detriment he has rather good taste! My wife asks if we can’t just go to M&S like normal people!
Some years ago on the English Cut blog, Thomas Mahon suggested that M&S was one of the better values out there.
Why not try suitsupply. Size up if needed. I’m not sure. Their stuff is cut trim, so if your son is strong, he may fit a 58 or 60 chest and then you can take in the waist.
Like you said, to your financial detriment, he has good tastes. How tall / how much does he weigh? Fundamentally, if your question is how do I get a bespoke suit fit and quality, then you probably have your answer.
It’s just really hard to give better advice without more information.

Thank you sincerely for the Suit Supply suggestion. We did take a look, and it may repay another look, but I think it was apparent that it didn’t feel right. I want him to have an old-fashioned, gentlemanly experience but I don’t want to pay bespoke prices, so there’s a tension. We have ordered a MTM suit from Oliver Brown, and if anyone cares I’ll report back on that. Perhaps some time spent on eBay will be profitable.
I too remember Thomas Mahon's comment about M&S and I once complemented a guy on the cut and fit of his suit, only to be told it was M&S. It used to be possible to make up their suits by using different size items to fit as required.

My nephew had quite a good experience at AngloItalian in Marleybone. Unsure the cost but am guessing in same ballpark as E&R etc. Hope that helps.
I think Angloitalian is a great suggestion. I would also go to Drake’s London. I think they are better for casual suits/coats rather than business suits but I think it’s worth a look.
For an entry level bespoke i would recommend Whitcomb and Shaftesbury. Their Indian made bespoke used to be very reasonably priced, maybe a bit more expensive now.
Hope he enjoys wearing a suit!

Related to this, I have 10 and 12 year old boys. As it is nice for them to be able to dress up for special occasions, are there any recommendations for stores in the US that sell suits or sport coats for boys of their age? I found it easier to find tailored clothing for them when they were younger.
Also, when my boys are a little older, I will take them to Divij Hemrajani for their first quality suits. His prices are an amazing value considering the quality and fit delivered.

Does Brooks Brothers still have a young man's line? They have changed management so many times that it is hard to know.
