I recall Michael wrote in the old Yahoo site about a French maker who specializes in genuine tortoiseshell (from the very limited _legal_ supplies in the World), which, like horn, is naturally hypoallergenic. Jona, maybe you could treat yourself with a nice set or tortoiseshell stays... Assuming the...

Dear Etutee, Thank you for another amazing read! I am particularly intrigued by the striped pants/odd jacket ensemble, worn by the "older men" of the time.... Not that I consider myself old :D but I imagine it can render a very smart look if done properly. Do you happen to have illustrations that de...

Two shirtmakers have made shirts for me using Bonfanti fabrics. Both love working with them. I've worn a casual shirt made of the "Aspen" cotton/cashmere flannel and a few business shirts made of the "Siviglia" poplin with great pleasure. Below I provide some findings, specific to each shirting type...

Miguel, how the Hell do you know so much about those shoes? Dear Dr. Bresch, The pebble grain Budapester is my favorite casual shoe style. I like them with tweeds, denim, and leather. Nonetheless, the shoes in smooth calf can be worn more formally. In Vienna and Zurich, for example, many elegant me...

Dear Dr. Bresch, The quintessential Budapester is double-soled, double or triple stitch, and made of brown or cognac pebble grain. Indeed, your preference for grained leather for such shoe is spot-on. I am not sure about how it would look with black scotch grain, however. Black scotch grain tends to...

Belted jacket picture set

Dear Etutee, I was looking for your wonderful pictures of belted jacket designs but couldn't find them in the Apparel Arts/Esky folder. Please let me know when they become available again, as I think they are a great reference for designing future commissions. Thanks a lot! My very best regards, :D ...

I Like Richard James for day, and Villoresi Piper for the evening. I use just a hint of cologne, only perceived if close by

Dear members,

I think short sleeve shirts in pure linen or a cotton voile or etamine are beautiful and elegant for the Summer months. I look forward to the warmer weather, and start wearing my short sleeves!

Cheers,

I am also wondering about this. The carpinco skin (sounds like a Brazilian Portuguese term... but I may be wrong...) seems to have a nap (like suede). Tony, Is this the actual texture?

Tony, Thanks for the amazing pics. The "handsome buckles", diamond tip derby, and the side elastic wholecut are my current favorites. The snake skin shoe is quite understated for a snake skin. Not that I'm saying it is understated, but regardless, very nice, interesting, and artistic. Is the burgund...

Dear Tony, I like the feel of a good, snug arch support. In general, I like shoes that feel snug around the heel and arch, but that are a tiny bit loose in the toe area and above the instep. A snug fit around the heel prevents slippage as the wearer walks and provide a "secure" feel. A good arch sup...

Dear Tony, Great information on the skin quality vs. polishing ability. If you ever get into trouble with a lady who finds her way into our conversation, tell her that in shoes, beauty lies in the surface, but in women, beaty lies deep under the skin. Trust me, it always works :D Cheers, :D Miguel :D
