Let's get this one - and the Windsor 2 - over the ramp now that the RAF herringbone is delivering!

Recreating oldest tartan
Not entirely sure where to post this but thought others might also find this piece of news on tartan history interesting:

Re: White tie restoration project complete.
Congratulations! Hunting for all the parts must have been a pleasure in itself, and I hope you will get to wear your completed white tie often! Did you aim for a complete restoration from the outset or did the project grow as time went by?

Re: Understanding French Ties
I would agree with Concordia on the diversity in choice of fabrics. As prominent example, former President Nicolas Sarkozy too used to wear dark, single-colour ties, but they were very often knitted (I think - though here I am less sure - Emmanuel Macron also wears knitted ties quite regularly). The...

Alteration tailor - Brussels
I am looking for a good alteration tailor in Brussels - good essentially meaning that (s)he should be trusted to take good care of bespoke clothes. Any recommendations would be most appreciated.. Hints on local drycleaners welcome too, though less urgent.

WelcomeTinotti!
I prefer tipped ties over untipped ones as this gives some weight and volume.

Re: You cannot make a revolution with silk gloves.
Dear Melcombe, As Couch says, your post is one to make the reader smile, in the best possible sense. My only observation would be that you seem to let out one obvious option, that is too say a waistcoat (if you were to surmise that I just passed the windows of Favourbrook the other day, you would be...

Re: vents or not
My DJ (in black Brisa BTW) is double-breasted and has two vent's as do my few ordinary DB jackets. From a stylistic point of view, I now think that ventless in the DJ would have been better, but at the time I expected to dance a lot in it so I wanted that extra freedom of movement. Seeing how it sit...

Re: Hand crafted Sardinian Knives
Those knives are beautiful right now, and I would like to see more photos. They will look even better though when they have been used for some years! As a kid, my first knife was my joy and treasure, and for years I always carried one. Now, walking in some cities, merely carrying a pocket knife is a...

Re: Tokyo shirtmakers
Hi. I think Japanese shirts makers in general do not take CMT orderes especially on first commissions. Famous traditional shirts makers are Tani Shirts, Yamatoya Shirts. New guys on the streets are Yamagami Shirts and Minami shirts If you cannot find their web site, let me know I can find those for...

Tokyo shirtmakers
I would be grateful for any hints on shirtmakers in Tokyo. It doesn't have to be a posh place, in fact I would rather find some small operation where I can talk to the person who actually cuts the pattern, not just to a salesperson. I would like to be able to bring my own cloth (LL linen...). Japane...

Re: William…?
I like the idea of a suede monk strap, especially with a round toe.
Slightly off topic, it might be useful to make a gallery of past LL shoes in order to promote interest in making new ones.

Re: Easter Music
I absolutely agree about the Messiah. Having grown up in a family where Karl Münchinger and the Stuttgarter Kammerorcherster's version of the Christmas Oratorio was the only orchestral Christmas music that really mattered, I was much surprised to learn as a college student that many would give that ...
