UC, since I know how much you are fond of pictures (though, to me, you don't appear shy with words, either!), here is my dowdy self - some years ago, admittedly - in rather dated '30-ish casual attire a la Esky / HRH & Co. : http://imageshack.com/a/img922/7600/W3hxYd.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img9...

Re: Ask a Neapolitan
Assuming you know your tailor and your tailor knows you, I see no impediment. If you know him, then you know what to ask him to do differently. If he knows you, then he will likely interpret your instructions to your satisfaction. If he's not Neapolitan, don't ask for a Neapolitan coat. If he is Nea...

Re: The Style Quotient
Gentlemen seem to be masters of style - the rest seem to be slaves of immediate fashion That reminds me (and I am not sure if I am not repeating myself with this) of a scene that took place a few years ago in Prague. As I was strolling around downtown on a free afternoon, I spotted a shop window fu...

Clothing has no value to anyone except to ourselves. What "value" does the body possess? The rest of us had better come to terms with mortality and its feared heralds. The sooner, the better. It's a lot more relaxing.

Re: Why choose tailors' cloths.
Even with tailors' cloths there is a high likelihood that an extra length ordered to replace a mistake will come from another bolt, with a slightly different colour. This may be more or less visible, depending on colour and pattern. So far it never happened to me to have a piece of cloth ruined by a...

Re: Why choose tailors' cloths.
I find myself unable to commit to buying Xm of any cloth without seeing it and holding it in my hands On this I fully agree, culverwood - I also prefer going to fabric shops and being able not only to touch the cloth, but unroll a metre or so from the bolt, drape it over the edge of the table, see ...

Re: Why choose tailors' cloths.
Hector, of course you are absolutely right. I should have added "tongue-in-cheek" to my clearly sweeping statement - which was meant more to tease culverwood on the "interest in clothing" thing
Since when do you take me so seriously?

Re: Why choose tailors' cloths.
Culverwood, I am worried. Much more than you. If THIS is why you forego LL cloth, what else are you missing out on? And wherefore? Plus you ARE "too" interested in clothing, aren't you? I mean, 10 years and 340 well-thought posts is no small feat. Do you think your tailor has not made that out...
